Rivaroxabana

It is used with aspirin to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and death in people with symptomatic coronary or peripheral artery disease at high risk of ischemic events. It works by preventing blood clots in the arteries.

Take one 2.5 mg tablet twice daily, preferably at the same times each day, with water, with or without food. Also take aspirin 100 mg once daily as directed. The tablet can be crushed and mixed with water or soft food if needed, and may be given through a gastric tube.

• Avoid if you have active bleeding or a high risk of serious bleeding (e.g., stomach ulcer, brain bleed).
• Do not combine with other blood thinners (e.g., warfarin, dabigatran, apixabana, heparin) unless directed.
• Inform your doctor about kidney or liver problems and any other medications you take.
• Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Stop blood donation during treatment and for 5 days after.
• Take rivaroxabana before and after surgery exactly as prescribed.
